Overview

The Young Adults Lead develops and sustains vibrant Islamic programming for Muslims aged 18–35, creating a community hub that addresses the unique spiritual, social, and professional challenges of young Muslim adults. This role requires strategic vision, cultural fluency, and the ability to build cohesive community among diverse young professionals, students, and emerging leaders. You will oversee weekly gatherings and coordinate a social team to ensure consistent, high-quality engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and facilitate weekly gatherings that integrate Islamic learning, community building, and relevant discussions for young adult Muslims

  • Build and manage a social team responsible for organizing monthly events, outings, and networking opportunities

  • Create programming that addresses contemporary challenges: career development, marriage preparation, spiritual growth, and community leadership

  • Develop partnerships with young professionals and students to expand reach and program diversity

  • Maintain consistent communication channels and community engagement between weekly sessions

  • Track program metrics including attendance, retention, and participant satisfaction

  • Collaborate with Brothers Social Lead and Sisters Social Lead to ensure gender-specific needs are met within overall programming

Expectations & Commitment

  • Time Commitment: 10–12 hours per month (weekly sessions + social team coordination + planning)

  • Reporting: Direct report to Program Director with bi-monthly strategic reviews

  • Strategic Planning: Submit comprehensive 6-month vision and execution plan within 30 days

  • Team Development: Build functional social team of 4–6 volunteers by month 3

  • Professional Development: Participate in quarterly volunteer leadership training

Success Metrics

  • Establish consistent weekly gathering attendance of 25+ young adults within 90 days

  • Achieve 75% retention rate among core participants quarter-over-quarter

  • Execute social team programming with zero missed monthly events

  • Recruit and activate social team of 5+ volunteers managing specific event portfolios

  • Generate measurable community engagement through online platforms between in-person gatherings

First 90-Day Priorities

  • Launch weekly gathering format with clear theme, structure, and value proposition

  • Recruit initial social team members and establish role clarity and accountability systems

  • Build communication infrastructure (WhatsApp broadcast, email list, social media presence)

  • Execute first 3 social events demonstrating variety and broad appeal

  • Conduct needs assessment survey to refine programming based on participant priorities

  • Establish collaborative working relationship with Brothers/Sisters Social Leads

Systems & Tools

  • WhatsApp groups for community communication and real-time coordination

  • Google Calendar for event scheduling and social team planning

  • Google Forms for feedback collection and program assessment

  • Social media platforms for extended community engagement and event promotion

  • Project management tool for social team task coordination

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Deep Islamic knowledge with ability to address complex contemporary issues facing young Muslim adults

  • Proven experience leading communities, teams, or organizations with measurable outcomes

  • Strong networking abilities and comfort engaging diverse groups of young professionals and students

  • Excellent facilitation skills with ability to moderate discussions on sensitive or controversial topics

  • Strategic thinker capable of building sustainable programming rather than one-off events

  • Cultural competence working with first, second, and third-generation Muslims

  • Age 25–35 preferred; credibility with target demographic while maintaining leadership authority
