Overview
The Website Manager leads the complete redesign and ongoing maintenance of MKMC's digital presence through the masjidkhadijah.ca website. This role requires technical proficiency, design sensibility, and strategic thinking to create a modern, user-friendly website that serves as the primary digital hub for community information, event registration, donations, and organizational communication. You will manage the full website lifecycle from initial revamp through continuous optimization and content updates.
Key Responsibilities
Lead comprehensive website redesign including information architecture, visual design, content organization, and user experience optimization
Manage ongoing website updates including event postings, program information, blog content, and organizational announcements
Ensure website integration with critical systems: online donation platforms, event registration, newsletter signup, contact forms
Implement SEO best practices to improve search visibility and community discoverability
Maintain website security, performance optimization, and mobile responsiveness across all pages
Collaborate with Marketing Lead to ensure website aligns with overall brand guidelines and marketing strategy
Create website training documentation enabling staff and volunteers to make basic content updates independently
Expectations & Commitment
Time Commitment: 15–20 hours initially for redesign (2–3 months), then 5–8 hours monthly for ongoing maintenance
Reporting: Direct report to Director with coordination through Marketing Lead for brand alignment
Strategic Planning: Deliver website redesign proposal and implementation timeline within 30 days
Content Coordination: Establish weekly update schedule ensuring information accuracy and timeliness
Professional Development: Stay current with web design trends and platform updates
Success Metrics
Complete comprehensive website redesign and launch within 90 days of appointment
Achieve website uptime of 99%+ with zero major technical failures
Improve website traffic by 40% within 6 months through SEO and user experience optimization
Reduce page load time to under 3 seconds on desktop and mobile
Implement functional online donation integration with proper tracking and receipt automation
Achieve 95% mobile usability score on testing platforms
First 90-Day Priorities
Conduct website audit identifying content gaps, technical issues, and user experience problems
Develop sitemap and information architecture for redesigned website
Select or customize website theme ensuring professional appearance and brand alignment
Migrate existing content while editing, updating, and improving clarity and organization
Implement essential integrations: donation platform, event registration, newsletter, contact forms
Establish content update protocols and train backup administrators
Launch redesigned website with comprehensive testing across devices and browsers
Systems & Tools
Website platform (Squarespace, WordPress, or approved CMS)

Ideal Candidate Profile
Proven web design and development experience with portfolio of completed projects
Technical proficiency in modern CMS platforms (WordPress, Squarespace, etc.)
Strong understanding of UX/UI principles, responsive design, and accessibility standards
SEO knowledge and ability to optimize content for search visibility
Excellent written communication for website content editing and clarity
Graphic design skills for creating visual elements and maintaining brand consistency
Self-directed work style with ability to manage complex projects from conception to completion
Experience with nonprofit or religious organization websites preferred
