Overview

The Sisters Social Lead creates meaningful monthly social events for Muslim women aged 18–35, with particular focus on working professionals who need community connection outside traditional daytime programming. This role requires cultural sensitivity, event design expertise, and understanding of the unique challenges facing young Muslim women balancing career, faith, and community. You will build spaces for authentic sisterhood, professional networking, and spiritual support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute monthly social events specifically addressing the needs and schedules of working Muslim women aged 18–35

  • Manage all event logistics including venue sourcing, vendor coordination, budget oversight, and communication systems

  • Build and lead an event team to ensure sustainable execution and expanded creative capacity

  • Create diverse programming portfolio including professional development events, wellness activities, cultural experiences, and spiritual gatherings

  • Develop outreach strategy to engage isolated or disconnected young Muslim women in the broader community

  • Coordinate with Young Adults Lead to ensure women's social programming complements overall young adult strategy

  • Maintain participant records, gather feedback, and track engagement metrics for program improvement

Expectations & Commitment

  • Time Commitment: 8–10 hours per month (monthly event + team coordination + planning)

  • Reporting: Report to Programs Director with collaboration through Young Adults Lead

  • Strategic Planning: Deliver 6-month event roadmap within 30 days highlighting variety and intentionality

  • Budget Accountability: Manage event budget responsibly with transparent tracking and reporting

  • Professional Development: Attend quarterly volunteer training and development sessions

Success Metrics

  • Execute 100% of scheduled monthly events without cancellations or major postponements

  • Build consistent attendance of 20+ sisters per event within first 3 months

  • Achieve 75% repeat attendance demonstrating strong community bonds

  • Recruit event team of 3–5 sisters managing different event categories by month 5

  • Maintain budget compliance while delivering high-quality, meaningful experiences

First 90-Day Priorities

  • Launch inaugural 3 monthly events showcasing diversity: professional networking, wellness/self-care, and spiritual focus

  • Establish communication infrastructure (WhatsApp group, email list, event promotion strategy)

  • Conduct informal needs assessment to understand specific challenges and desires of working Muslim women

  • Recruit 2–3 team members to share event planning, execution, and creative development

  • Build partnership relationships with local Muslim women business owners, professionals, and community leaders

Systems & Tools

  • WhatsApp groups for event updates and sister community engagement

  • Google Sheets for budget tracking, RSVP management, and attendance records

  • Event management platforms for registration and communication where applicable

  • MKMC shared calendar for resource coordination and facility booking

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Strong organizational abilities with track record of successful event planning and execution

  • Deep understanding of challenges facing working Muslim women in maintaining faith, career, and community balance

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to create welcoming, inclusive environments for diverse sisters

  • Creative event design thinking that goes beyond typical "dinner and henna" programming

  • Financial literacy and responsible budget management

  • Emotionally mature with ability to handle sensitive conversations and community dynamics

  • Age 25–35 preferred; peer relatability combined with leadership presence
