Overview

The SEO & Website Optimization Specialist improves MKMC's online visibility and search performance, ensuring community members and seekers can easily discover MKMC through Google and other search engines. This technical role involves keyword research, on-page optimization, technical SEO improvements, and ongoing performance monitoring to drive organic traffic growth. You work closely with the Website Manager and report to the Marketing Lead.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct keyword research identifying search terms potential community members use to find Islamic programming and masjid services

  • Implement on-page SEO optimization including meta titles, descriptions, header tags, image alt text, and internal linking

  • Improve website technical SEO addressing site speed, mobile optimization, crawlability, and indexing issues

  • Develop local SEO strategy ensuring MKMC appears in local search results for masjid and Islamic center queries

  • Monitor search engine rankings and organic traffic analyzing trends and identifying optimization opportunities

  • Create SEO-optimized content recommendations guiding website content creation for maximum discoverability

  • Collaborate with Website Manager on technical implementations of SEO improvements

Expectations & Commitment

  • Time Commitment: 6–8 hours per month (optimization + monitoring + recommendations)

  • Reporting: Report to Marketing Lead with coordination through Website Manager for technical implementations

  • Strategic Planning: Deliver quarterly SEO strategy with priority optimizations and expected outcomes

  • Performance Tracking: Provide monthly analytics reports tracking search visibility and traffic growth

  • Professional Development: Stay current with search engine algorithm updates and SEO best practices

Success Metrics

  • Improve organic search traffic by 50% within 6 months

  • Achieve first-page Google rankings for 10+ target keywords within target geography

  • Increase average page load speed by 30% through technical optimizations

  • Improve mobile usability scores to 95%+ on testing platforms

  • Grow backlink profile by 25% through outreach and content strategies

First 90-Day Priorities

  • Conduct comprehensive SEO audit identifying current rankings, technical issues, and optimization opportunities

  • Perform keyword research developing target keyword list for MKMC content and pages

  • Implement quick-win optimizations: meta tags, header structure, image optimization

  • Set up analytics and rank tracking systems for ongoing monitoring

  • Create prioritized optimization roadmap with expected impact and implementation timeline

  • Optimize Google Business Profile for local search visibility

  • SEO analysis tools (Google Search Console, SEMrush, Ahrefs, Moz, or similar)

  • Google Analytics for traffic analysis and conversion tracking

  • Page speed testing tools (Google PageSpeed Insights, GTmetrix)

  • Keyword research platforms

  • Rank tracking software for monitoring search performance

  • Proven SEO experience with track record of improving search rankings and organic traffic

  • Technical proficiency understanding website architecture, HTML, and basic coding concepts

  • Experience with local SEO and optimizing for geographic search queries
