Overview

The Marketing Strategist develops data-driven marketing campaigns and provides strategic direction to maximize MKMC's community reach and program participation. This role involves campaign planning, metrics analysis, audience segmentation, and strategic recommendations that elevate MKMC's marketing effectiveness beyond content creation alone. You report to the Marketing Lead and serve as the analytical backbone of marketing operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive marketing campaigns for major events, program launches, and fundraising initiatives

  • Analyze marketing metrics across all channels identifying trends, opportunities, and areas for optimization

  • Create audience segmentation strategies ensuring messaging reaches appropriate community demographics effectively

  • Conduct competitive analysis and market research informing MKMC's positioning and messaging strategy

  • Build campaign frameworks including goals, target audiences, messaging, channels, timeline, and success metrics

  • Provide strategic recommendations to Marketing Lead on content strategy, platform priorities, and resource allocation

  • Track campaign performance post-execution documenting results and lessons learned for continuous improvement

Expectations & Commitment

  • Time Commitment: 8–10 hours per month (campaign planning + analysis + strategic recommendations)

  • Reporting: Direct report to Marketing Lead with monthly analytics reviews and campaign proposals

  • Strategic Planning: Develop quarterly campaign calendar aligned with organizational priorities

  • Data Analysis: Provide monthly performance reports with actionable insights and recommendations

  • Professional Development: Stay current with marketing trends, platform changes, and best practices

Success Metrics

  • Develop minimum 4 major marketing campaigns annually with clear objectives and execution plans

  • Achieve campaign success rate of 80%+ meeting defined goals (attendance, engagement, registrations)

  • Provide actionable monthly analytics reports leading to measurable marketing improvements

  • Improve overall marketing ROI by 30% through strategic optimization recommendations

  • Demonstrate year-over-year growth in key metrics: followers, engagement, website traffic, event attendance

First 90-Day Priorities

  • Conduct comprehensive marketing audit assessing current strategy, metrics, and effectiveness

  • Establish analytics dashboards tracking key performance indicators across all channels

  • Develop audience personas for MKMC's diverse community segments

  • Create first major campaign plan for upcoming flagship event or program launch

  • Implement regular reporting cadence providing Marketing Lead with actionable insights

  • Build campaign template library standardizing strategic planning process

Systems & Tools

  • Analytics platforms (Google Analytics, social media insights, email metrics)

  • Data visualization tools for reporting and dashboard creation (Google Data Studio, Tableau)

  • Project management software for campaign planning and coordination

  • Spreadsheet tools for data analysis and metrics tracking

  • Market research resources and competitive analysis tools
