Overview

The Marketing Lead serves as MKMC's brand architect and marketing strategy director, overseeing all external communications, content creation, and community engagement efforts. This compensated leadership position requires marketing expertise, team management abilities, and strategic vision to build MKMC's visibility, attract community participation, and maintain consistent brand excellence across all channels. You will build and lead a marketing team while establishing systems that professionalize MKMC's communications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive marketing strategy encompassing brand positioning, content calendar, campaign planning, and growth objectives

  • Lead and manage marketing team including photographer, social media manager, graphic designer, videographer, newsletter lead, and marketing strategist

  • Establish and enforce brand guidelines ensuring visual and messaging consistency across all content and platforms

  • Approve all public-facing content before publication maintaining quality standards and strategic alignment

  • Oversee content production workflows ensuring timely delivery of social media posts, newsletters, videos, and promotional materials

  • Track marketing metrics including social media engagement, website traffic, email open rates, and campaign performance

  • Collaborate with program leads to create compelling promotional content that drives attendance and community engagement

Expectations & Commitment

  • Time Commitment: 15–20 hours per month (team management + strategy + content approval + execution)

  • Compensation: Monthly stipend of $500–$1,000 based on experience and scope

  • Reporting: Direct report to Marketing Director with monthly marketing performance reviews

  • Team Leadership: Manage team of 6–8 marketing volunteers ensuring accountability and quality output

  • Strategic Planning: Deliver annual marketing strategy and quarterly campaign plans

  • Approval Authority: Final review and approval required for all marketing content before publication

Success Metrics

  • Grow Instagram following by 40% within 6 months through consistent, high-quality content

  • Achieve 25%+ email open rate and 5%+ click-through rate on newsletter campaigns

  • Publish 100% of planned content on schedule without delays or quality compromises

  • Build and maintain fully staffed marketing team with defined roles and accountability

  • Increase event attendance by 30% through effective promotional campaigns

  • Maintain brand guideline compliance across 95%+ of published content

First 90-Day Priorities

  • Audit current marketing efforts identifying strengths, gaps, and immediate improvement opportunities

  • Recruit and onboard full marketing team with clear role definitions and performance expectations

  • Develop comprehensive brand guidelines covering visual identity, tone, messaging, and content standards

  • Establish content approval workflow ensuring quality control before publication

  • Create 90-day content calendar aligned with MKMC programs and strategic priorities

  • Implement marketing metrics tracking system measuring performance across all channels

  • Launch first major campaign demonstrating strategic approach and measurable results

Systems & Tools

  • Social media management platform (Later, Buffer, or similar) for scheduling and analytics

  • Design collaboration tools (Canva Pro, Adobe Creative Suite)

  • Project management platform for team coordination and content calendar

  • Analytics platforms (Google Analytics, Instagram Insights, email metrics)

  • Brand asset repository for logos, templates, and approved content

  • Approval workflow system for content review before publication

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Proven marketing experience with portfolio demonstrating successful campaigns and brand development

  • Team leadership abilities including recruiting, managing, and developing volunteer teams

  • Strong strategic thinking translating organizational goals into effective marketing initiatives

  • Excellent visual and written communication skills with eye for design and brand consistency

  • Experience with digital marketing including social media, email, content marketing, and analytics

  • Comfortable working with diverse content creators while maintaining quality standards

  • Understanding of nonprofit marketing and faith-based community engagement preferred

  • Age 25+ preferred; professional marketing maturity combined with community connection
