Overview
The Girls Youth Lead creates and sustains transformative programming for teenage girls aged 13–18, providing a safe Islamic space for spiritual growth, sisterhood, and confident Muslim identity development. This leadership role demands cultural sensitivity, program innovation, and the ability to mentor young women through critical formative years. You will report to Program Director and manage biweekly sessions plus monthly social programming.
Key Responsibilities
Develop age-appropriate programming that addresses the unique spiritual, social, and emotional needs of Muslim teenage girls
Facilitate biweekly gatherings covering Islamic knowledge, character building, and contemporary challenges facing Muslim women
Plan and execute monthly social events that foster sisterhood and positive community connections
Build trusted mentor relationships while maintaining professional boundaries and parent communication
Recruit and develop a team of assistant volunteers to ensure program continuity and expanded capacity
Create safe discussion spaces for addressing sensitive topics relevant to Muslim young women
Track attendance, engagement levels, and program outcomes through structured documentation
Expectations & Commitment
Time Commitment: 8–10 hours per month (biweekly sessions + monthly social + coordination)
Reporting: Direct report to Program Director with monthly progress updates
Strategic Planning: Deliver 6-month program roadmap within first 30 days
Professional Development: Attend quarterly volunteer training and development sessions
Flexibility: Evening and weekend availability for youth programming needs
Success Metrics
Build and maintain core group of 15+ regular participants within first quarter
Achieve 85% session attendance rate among registered participants
Deliver 100% of scheduled biweekly sessions and monthly socials without cancellation
Develop assistant volunteer team of 2–3 sisters by month 5
Demonstrate measurable increase in participant Islamic literacy and community involvement
First 90-Day Priorities
Establish initial outreach and recruit founding group of 10–15 committed participants
Set up communication infrastructure (WhatsApp, parent contact system, attendance records)
Execute first 3 monthly social activities with youth input and leadership opportunities
Identify curriculum themes addressing spiritual growth, identity, and contemporary Muslim womanhood
Build relationships with parents and establish trust within community families
Systems & Tools
WhatsApp groups for participant engagement and guardian communication
Google Sheets for attendance monitoring and program planning
MKMC shared calendar for facility booking and event coordination
Feedback collection system for continuous improvement
Ideal Candidate Profile
Grounded Islamic knowledge with ability to address women's issues from authentic religious perspective
Experience working with or mentoring teenage girls in educational, religious, or community settings
Strong emotional intelligence and ability to create psychologically safe environments for vulnerable conversations
Excellent communication skills with both youth and parents from diverse backgrounds
Organized, reliable, and capable of maintaining consistent programming standards
Understanding of challenges facing Muslim young women in contemporary Canadian society
Age 22+ preferred; mature presence combined with relatable authenticity
