Overview

The Youth Brothers Lead serves as the primary mentor and program architect for teenage boys aged 13–18, building a structured Islamic community space that nurtures spiritual growth, brotherhood, and leadership development. This role requires operational excellence, consistent engagement, and the ability to create programming that resonates with today's Muslim youth. You will report directly to Program Director and oversee biweekly gatherings plus monthly social activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute biweekly youth programming that balances Islamic education, character development, and community building

  • Organize monthly social events that strengthen brotherhood and create positive peer networks

  • Recruit, mentor, and manage assistant volunteers to support program delivery and sustainability

  • Develop individual relationships with participants, tracking attendance and personal development

  • Collaborate with family program leads to ensure alignment with broader MKMC youth initiatives

  • Maintain safety protocols, parental communication channels, and incident response procedures

  • Produce quarterly progress reports including attendance data, program outcomes, and participant feedback

Expectations & Commitment

  • Time Commitment: 8–10 hours per month (biweekly sessions + monthly social + planning)

  • Reporting: Direct report to Program Director with monthly check-ins

  • Strategic Planning: Submit a comprehensive 6-month program plan within 30 days of appointment

  • Professional Development: Participate in quarterly volunteer training sessions

  • Availability: Evening and weekend flexibility for youth programming

Success Metrics

  • Maintain consistent attendance of 15+ youth at biweekly sessions within 90 days

  • Achieve 80% participant retention quarter-over-quarter

  • Execute 100% of planned monthly social activities without cancellations

  • Build a support team of 2–3 assistant volunteers by month 4

  • Document measurable growth in participant Islamic knowledge and community engagement

First 90-Day Priorities

  • Conduct outreach and establish core group of 12–15 regular attendees

  • Launch communication system (WhatsApp group, parent updates, attendance tracking)

  • Execute first 3 monthly social events with increasing youth ownership

  • Identify and recruit 1–2 assistant volunteers to build program sustainability

  • Establish curriculum framework covering aqeedah, character development, and contemporary Muslim youth issues

Systems & Tools

  • WhatsApp groups for youth communication and parent updates

  • Google Sheets for attendance tracking and program planning

  • Shared calendar system for MKMC-wide event coordination

  • Feedback forms for continuous program improvement

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Strong Islamic foundation with ability to address contemporary youth challenges from a faith-based perspective

  • Prior experience mentoring or teaching teenage boys in religious or educational settings

  • Natural ability to build trust and respect with adolescents while maintaining appropriate boundaries

  • Excellent organizational skills with proven ability to plan and execute consistent programming

  • Comfortable with technology for communication, tracking, and content delivery

  • Emotionally intelligent, patient, and committed to long-term youth development

  • Age 22+ preferred; lived experience navigating Muslim identity in Canadian society
